How do i respectfully fix or dispose a broken Buddhist statue?

Question by Max R on "Buddhist":

My dog accidentallyly broke the hand off of it by knocking a desk over. I'm not buddhist (i think) but i have the statue in my house for decoration. I still have the statue and hand.

I think it would be more disrespectful to dispose of the statue. I don't think there is any blame for the dog so forgive your dog. If you can fix it yourself that would be fine or find someone else to do it. If it is ceramic, There are some nice 2 part epoxy glues made for ceramics. If it is a valuable statue, find a conservator to make the repairs
