How to practice the Buddhist religion, as a Christian practices Christianity every Sunday?

Question by on "Buddhist":

Before you answer: Buddhism is a religion AND philosophy. It is more of a Western thing to know it as a religion, because philosophers started knowing it as "rational". In part of the world such as Asia, however, it is more commonly known as a religion. There aren't any Buddhist churches really, so what should I do to worship? Go to a grotto and meditate? I'm mainly doing this to convince my parents (Christians) I am passionate about my beliefs.

Have you read the book by Dinty Moore called Accidentally Buddhist? He goes to all these Buddhist conventions/ get-togethers all the time. I read the book 3 years ago so I forgot what the heck they are called. I guess you should start finding out when and where those things are held. Like you said, we don't really have alot of Buddhist temples around. I guess it's more of a personal religion.
