In the study of mindfulness, what are the hallmarks of being in a high state of awareness?

the meditators/ buddhist/ eckhart toole, and the like say that meditation increases the frontal cortex, thus creating the effect you are looking for, the only way i know of to measure this is with bio feedback, and functional MRI;s sometimes brain scans........ India is supposedly advanced in these brain studies........
