Mindfulness retreats and training programs?

Question by Spencealence on "Mindfulness":

Hi. I am looking to find a mindfulness retreat program (go away to a facility for a week or more to practice this specific type of meditation). I am also looking for it to be SPECIFICALLY geared to anxiety reduction, and also as non-religious as can be. I'm thinking like a class or retreat offered by a top medical college.

Hi: I would definitely contact the Barre Meditation Center in Massachusetts. I know less about the Spirit Rock Meditation Center near the West Coast. However, they seem to be the western cousin of Barre. I think both centers cater to individuals who are interested in meditation as a spiritual discipline and also as a non-sectarian means to deal with physical or emotional trauma. In other words, everyone is welcome. I suggest emailing or calling them and telling them about your primary interests. Besides on-site retreats, they have certified teachers who conduct courses in many parts of the country. I wish you well.

Readers will also learn how to sit, walk, and breathe mindfully to focus on the moment at hand; eat mindfully; heal relationships and decrease disappointment and frustration; listen deeply; and much more.
