Need Help With Stress Reduction?
Question by Toronto Guy on "Stress Reduction": 49 year old man here - newbie (for the most part) to relaxation techniques. I am currently undergoing significant stresses in my life and it will be getting worse over the next week. I'm prone to anxiety and I can feel it eating me up inside. With everything I do, I feel like I'm on 'fire', on red alert. I just did a half hour of controlled breathing - slowly - through my diaphram and it's not feeling any better. My chest still feel tight, numbness in my left arm, just feel like I can't catch my breath. Is it un-reasonable to expect that it would have helped even a BIT? I know it was for my first time trying, but I hoped that I'd get a little relief. I guess I feel very slightly better, but I need something else. Any other good tips for relaxing/stress relief? To help you out simply, I wouldn't recommend this most of the time but since your under going stress most of the time, I believe you should think that your living in a dream, just really give up on reality for awhile, trust me, it's the only thing that will help you. Just keep saying everything is a dream with no drawbacks or anything bad happening, it is what I make it. And continue to act and think this way for a good week to knock some stress off your shoulders.
